WORD TODAY: In Him We Live!

In Him we Live

Acts 17:24-30

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands. Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

God intended that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being.

Although God overlooked the ignorance of earlier times, He now commands all people everywhere to repent. For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man - Christ Jesus - whom He has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising Him from the dead.

WORD TODAY: Our Assignment!

Our Assignment!

See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:12-13

There are a couple of truths that I have become more aware of through the years. The first is that we need encouragement and the second is that we need to encourage each other. We might think of it as the ministry of encouragement.

You do not need a degree in divinity to minister to those around you. You just need to remind them of Jesus. The writer of Hebrews starts this passage by giving a personal challenge:
"See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God."

Looking at that passage from a different point of view, we see that
turning away from God results in a sinful and unbelieving heart. How tragic to see the shipwreck of people who turn away from God. What are we to do about it?

The writer is very clear:
"Encourage one another daily." We have a purpose in life and that purpose is a daily purpose.

Having spent time in police and military work, I know what it is to be given an assignment to be completed that day. Failure to accomplish the assignment could often result in lives being lost.
It is a far greater responsibility to rescue the perishing and care for the dying. That is our assignment!

Blessings dear hearts.
Walk with God today
and be a blessing!
