WORD TODAY: Where Are We Heading?

 

Where Are We Heading? I do have strong opinions when it comes to politics but I've deliberately chosen not to talk about that very much. I think the Gospel of Jesus is far more important. And, I think Jesus is our only chance for peace. Politics will never bring peace in this modern world, because the divide is too great and there's no way to compromise on key issues. I did post some memes on Facebook about brotherhood and unity, which fell flat. And that amused me! I understand there's almost zero chance for unity, and yet: somebody still needs to SAY IT, so we can be reminded of how far we've strayed from the gold standard. This bitterness and resentment over differences is how ancient tribal feuds got started, and they are STILL ongoing, with no sign of relenting, hundreds and even thousands of years later. The bitterness in American politics is an evil thing, and it ought to raise alarm bells that we are not on a good path. It doesn't matter what party affiliation we have: anger and hostility will not help restore us as a nation. I truly believe that only Jesus can help us.
