JOB's REVELATION of GOD

THE TRIALS OF JOB PART 4
JOB's REVELATION of GOD

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3,5

Job couldn't figure out what he'd done wrong. Why was God treating him like this when he'd done absolutely everything RIGHT that he knew how to do?

But Job's understanding of God was immature and incomplete. By the time his trial-by-fire was over, Job had an amazing, mind-blowing new revelation of who God is. And, Job had a new relationship with God. Such treasures are a reward for those who remain faithful in suffering.

Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
My ears had heard of You,
but now my eyes have seen You.
Therefore I despise myself,
and I repent in dust and ashes. Job 42:3,5-6

JOB FORGIVES HIS FRIENDS

After the LORD had spoken to Job, He said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken about Me accurately, as My servant Job has. So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD had told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.
Job 42:7-9

After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his former possessionsJob 42:7-10

“Job appears brave in distress and valiant in affliction, maintains his virtue, and with that his character, under the most exasperating provocations that the malice of hell could invent, and thereby gives a most noble example of fortitude; a character no way inferior to that of the active hero.”
-Sir Richard Blackmore
