DNA SINGS PRAISE TO THE CREATOR
The heavens
declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
Without speech or language,
without a sound to be heard,
their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
Psalm 191:1-4
Creation
is not chaos stitched together by chance. It is ordered, precise, and
structured by an unseen language of mathematics. And because mathematics is
also the foundation of music, creation itself is often far more musical than
we realize.
Christians should think carefully before dismissing biblical passages that
speak of all creation praising its Creator. Those words may be far more
literal than we assume.
In a striking example, a geneticist studying DNA noticed that the sequence of
its chemical bases follows patterns similar to musical composition. He
assigned musical notes to the four bases and began translating genetic
sequences into sound.
What emerged was not random noise or dull repetition. Each gene produced its
own distinct and coherent melody. Some gene sequences sounded structured and
intricate like Bach. Others carried the impressionistic feel of Debussy. A
mouse gene involved in RNA even echoed the style of Chopin.
Far from disorder, the genetic code revealed
harmony, variation, and intentional structure.
As our understanding of creation deepens, so does the testimony to God’s
wisdom and power. From the vastness of the cosmos to the microscopic language
of DNA, creation does not whisper by accident. It proclaims by design.
Truly, every part of creation sings praise to its
Creator. The only question left is whether we will join the song.
