LET THE WHOLE EARTH BE FILLED WITH HIS GLORY

LET THE WHOLE EARTH
BE FILLED WITH HIS GLORY

Let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen, and Amen.  Psalm 72:19

This is a large petition! To intercede for a whole city is a stretch of faith, and there are times when even a prayer for just one person is enough to stagger us.

But how far-reaching was the psalmist’s intercession! How comprehensive! And how sublime!
“Let the whole earth be filled with His glory.”

This declaration does not exempt any country; it does not exclude a single nation however barbarous. The prayer is for the cannibal as well as for the civilized, for all climates and people groups: this prayer encompasses the entire earth, and omits no child of Adam and Eve.

How can we honestly offer such a prayer with a sincere heart unless we are also willing to endeavor, as God shall help us, to labor for the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ?

However, there are some who are not willing to pray or to labor... Dear Reader, is it your prayer?

Turn your eyes to Calvary. Behold the Lord of Life nailed to a cross, with the thorny crown about his brow, with bleeding head, and hands, and feet. How can we look upon this miracle of miracles, the death of the Son of God; without feeling such a stirring in our hearts that words could never express?

And when you feel the blood applied to your own conscience, and know that the precious LORD has blotted out your sins, then we cannot help but fall to our knees and cry,
“Let the whole earth be filled with His glory; Amen, and Amen.”

Can you bow before the Crucified in loving homage, and not wish to see Him established as King of kings and Lord of lords? Your piety is false, unless it leads you to desire that the Mercy which was extended to you may also bless the whole world.

LORD Jesus, it is harvest-time; may all those that live and breathe sing of your glory!
