GOOD PEOPLE DOING GOOD THINGS For the eyes of the LORD watch everywhere throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 The news media has been busy during this first month of 2026, haven't they? Minnesota fraud, Minneapolis shooting, Venezuela, Ukraine, Russia, Somalis, Greenland, a severe winter ice storm... There's too much going on to even keep track of it all. There are real people in the midst of all that, who are definitely hurting. We can show our care by praying for those involved. But God doesn't want us to be overwhelmed by all the bad news. If we could see this world as God does, we would know that acts of kindness, love and caring are happening around the world at a far greater rate than all the bad. It's just that a mother caring for her family isn't news. A father taking his children on a special outing isn't news. A neighbor helping a neighbor. A child in grade school helping the new kid find his way around. People who don’t have much sharing with someone who has even less. A teenager helping an old woman by shoveling her sidewalk... you're not likely to see these everyday activities in the news. Even beyond good deeds, there are people helping people in desperate and impossible situations. They are sharing the little bit of light they have so someone else can live. It is impossible to count all the acts of grace and mercy and love that are happening at this very moment around the world, but God sees every single one and he makes a record of it. Nothing escapes God's notice. The little things matter to God. Small steps of faithfulness are a delight to the eyes of our Father. Perhaps no one sees all the things you did today to care for those in your sphere, but God did. Not only that, he wrote it down! It was NEWS in heaven!
