It’s Time to Look Up! When you see Jerusalem surrounded by enemies on all sides, you will know that her desolation is near. And then will they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud, with power and great glory. When these things begin to happen, stand up and lift up your heads, because your Redemption is near. Luke 21:20-28 Jesus himself gave us this famous prophecy. His prediction that the end times would focus intently on Israel seems to be in the process of fulfillment, doesn’t it? When we consider that Israel didn't even exist as a nation for nearly 2000 years: the significance of current events cannot be overstated. Christians down through the years longed for the return of Christ, but the prophecies concerning Israel were far from being fulfilled. In fact, it was impossible. When did a people group ever get scattered to the nations for 2000 years, and then return to their original homeland with their unique language and religion intact? This is a miracle that scientists tell us is statistically impossible. Yet here we are, with Israel fighting for its very existence and surrounded by enemies: just as Jesus predicted nearly 2000 years ago.
