SOLDIERS CAST LOTS John 19:23-24 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also the coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. Then they said to one another, Let's not tear it, but cast lots for it to decide whose it will be. And so the Scripture was fulfilled, which says, They parted my garments among them. For my cloak they cast lots. KING OF THE JEWS John 19:19-22 Pilate wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews." So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write, *The King of the Jews*, but rather, *This man said, I am King of the Jews.*" Pilate answered, "What I have written I have written." YOU WILL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE Luke 23:39-43 One of the criminals who hung there heaped abuse on Him. “Are You not the Christ?” he said. “Save Yourself and us!” BEHOLD YOUR MOTHER John 19:25-27 Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother and her sister, as well as Mary the wife of Clopas and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother and the disciple John standing nearby, He said to His mother, “Woman, here is your son.” Then He said to John, “Here is your mother.” So from that hour, John took Mary into his home. |
