The Resurrection No one actually witnessed the Resurrection; no one earthly, anyway. Most likely, all of heaven was front and center to observe the event that would stop earth's history and restart it again for a whole new era! When the angels rolled away the stone from the tomb, Jesus was already gone. They wanted people to know that. All the soldiers who were guarding the tomb passed out from fright at what was happening, and when they recovered they ran away. The shroud of Christ was there in the tomb; laid among the other burial wrappings. It's possible someone saved it, kept it... the Shroud of Turin may indeed be the original shroud and I kind of think it is, because the mystery of how a negative image of a man got imprinted on the cloth has never been solved. It's not blood. They don't know what it is. Some scientists experimented with cloth, trying to duplicate it, and they believe the image on the Shroud happened by a super-intense and instantaneous burst of light. Isn't that a lovely thought? In the utter darkness of the tomb, was there was an intense, blinding burst of light? And then Jesus was gone from that depressing old tomb! Angels tidied up a bit and rolled the stone away, preparing for visitors. |
