Blessed are those who hunger and thirst This Beatitude speaks of the deepest longings of our heart. If you are searching for true meaning in life, you will find it in a quest for righteousness. And here's the surprising part: righteousness is not a philosophy or a set of rules. Righteousness is a PERSON! It is only by knowing Jesus Christ that we can learn what true righteousness is. Recently I listened to the testimony of a friend of mine. Before he was saved, Tim had been into everything imaginable: cocaine, marijuana, drinking, partying, materialism, sex and porn. But one night God tapped him on the shoulder. Tim listened to a preacher on TV, and felt it was something he really needed to do. He gave his life to Jesus. And overnight, Tim was a changed person. He walked away from everything in his apartment, and only took some clothes with him. Within a week he found a church and started Bible school. Tim was so miraculously changed and delivered from everything of his past, that he didn't want to go near any of it again. Once he knew what it felt like to be CLEAN, and righteous through Jesus Christ: he was addicted to that newfound freedom. Tim didn't want to do anything to mess it up. He was afraid to become what he had been before. |
