The Ascension of Christ! Ascension Day is tomorrow, on Thursday. It occurs on the 40th day after Easter Sunday, as we remember Jesus Christ's Ascension to heaven. It is believed that at least 120 people witnessed the Ascension from Mount Olivet, and possibly more than that. Ascension Day is the “coronation day” of Christ, when he ascended to the heavenlies and sat down at the right hand of his Father. His obedience was rewarded: the life, death and resurrection of Jesus was certified by the highest Authority. As it says in Philippians: Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11
